What’s New For The 2026 CSA?

Winter is setting in, which means that it’s CSA signup season! Our CSA is an absolutely essential program for the health of our farm business. CSA members directly support all of the early-season activities that a small farm needs to do to prepare for the growing season. Our CSA members’ subscriptions help us purchase seeds, potting mix, compost, and growing supplies, and more!

As folks are considering whether or not to participate in their local CSA, we thought it’s about time to review our CSA program and what we’re bringing to the table for 2026!

The New, The Returning, And The “More”

Good Dirt Farm CSA members have a huge range of produce come their way over the course of the growing season. We’ve lost count at over 60 unique varieties that we provide at some point as the season goes along. In 2026, we’re keeping some things the same, bumping up a few fan favorites, and even adding a new item or two into the mix.

Staple Crops in Our CSA

We’ll continue to have a set of “staples” or produce that we feel is as close to universally loved as possible, and thus we try to have it fresh as often as possible. This includes our lettuce mix, carrots, garlic, onions, cherry tomatoes, and beets, among others. Our members should expect to see these often, and build-your-own members should have these available most, if not all, weeks of the main CSA season.

Crops We’re Growing More of For the 2026 CSA

There were also quite a few items that our members couldn’t get enough of that we plan to invest in more for the coming year. Most of these crops were featured only once or maybe twice in 2025, but in 2026, we’d love to include them in 3 or more shares! On that list are baby greens like arugula and our fancy salad mix, cucumbers, green beans, cantaloupe, raspberries, hakurei turnips, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and butternut squash.

New Additions to Our 2026 CSA

We’re also looking at adding a couple of new items in 2026. Though we don’t have quite as many crops on our “new this year” list, we think adding a few new things each year keeps things interesting for both us and our members!

One crop we are quite excited about for the fall is napa cabbage, or Chinese cabbage. This cabbage variety does well in late summer and fall, and the crisp flavor is very versatile in the kitchen. We also hope to add some color to our heat-tolerant summer lettuce mix, and a couple of new tomato varieties to keep the summer tomato train vibrant!

Another fall crop that we’re trialing is a variety of radish called watermelon radish. This beautiful fall root is known for good storage quality and excellent flavor. We also hope to increase our basil output, and add in more unique and interesting herbs like summer savory and green shiso.

Lastly, we are always examining our plant varieties, and either selecting more of certain varieties that do well on our farm, or switching up varieties that we have struggled with. A couple examples of new varieties next year include replacing our shallot variety to a larger, single-bulb type, and also a new bell pepper variety that we hope will be more productive in our high tunnel.

A Few Changes To Our Offerings

This season, we decided to simplify our offerings just a bit. We are raising our “small” build-your-own share from $250 to $300. This is mostly so that we match it to our bi-weekly standard CSA share. We also noted last year that the majority of our build-your-own members were easily able to go through the smaller price in a season and needed to re-up their funds to make it through the season anyway. So, we feel raising the initial investment a bit will help us raise those all-important early-season funds and keep those build-your-own accounts fully funded for weekly shopping.

We’ve also updated our online store so that we can take payments directly on the store. This should make it easier for build-your-own members to add money to their account if needed, and also streamline the CSA signup process.

One thing we are NOT changing: our prices! While we may certainly make a couple of small changes here and there to individual produce items, our prices and item sizes will largely remain the same as 2025. This is a challenging decision, as recent inflation has certainly impacted the cost of living (even for farmers!). Even more than that, grocery store prices seem to be rising even faster.

While we are huge believers that food should cost what it takes to produce it (fun fact, it probably should be even more expensive than it is today!), we believe we can still make a good living in 2026 without raising our own prices.

Delivery And Packaging: Mostly The Same

We aren’t planning to change much with our delivery schedule. We will still deliver each Friday during the CSA season, with the only exception being folks who pick up at our farmer’s market on Saturdays.

We do, however, plan to grow our CSA by a modest amount in 2026. This means it’s possible and even likely that we will take on an additional pickup location. If you are interested in hosting a pickup location, please reach out to us!

That’s about it for 2026 updates to our CSA! We hope you consider becoming a member this season! You can view the details and sign up at our CSA page.
